I am delighted to welcome you to our website and to give you a glimpse into the life of the pupils at our school.
I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher of such a thriving, Catholic learning community with supportive staff, governors and parents.
Our pupils are happy children who are encouraged to reach their full potential both academically and spiritually in a supportive Christian environment.
Year 6 have had a fantastic final morning at PGL! Everyone slept well and enjoyed a hearty breakfast to start the day.
This morning we took on the zip wire — and even Miss Fraser joined in! Next up is fencing before we enjoy our packed lunches and begin our journey home.
We have made some amazing memories together that we will cherish always. We can’t wait to share more stories with you all soon!

Day two has been another fantastic day on residential!
The children took on the Jacob’s Ladder challenge today and showed incredible bravery, determination, and teamwork throughout. They also enjoyed survival activities, where they learned how to build shelters and even had a go at using a ferro rod to start a fire.
After lunch, we headed to the lake to design, build, and test their own rafts… with only a few children ending up in the water! It was a very successful (and very entertaining!) activity.
We also discovered a new favourite sport — aeroball — which combines trampolining and basketball. Lots of fun was had by everyone, and even Mrs. Liddle joined in!
Dinner this evening was a big helping of macaroni cheese, and the salad bar continues to be a huge success with the children.
We’re now heading back to the rooms for a short rest before tonight’s Balloon Splash activity.
We’re sure everyone will sleep well tonight, and we can’t wait to see you all tomorrow.

Good morning from Dearne Valley – Day 2!
After a great night’s sleep, the children have enjoyed a hearty breakfast of bacon, hash browns, beans, tomatoes, toast and cereal and are now ready for another exciting day ahead.
This morning’s activities begin with Jacob’s Ladder, followed by a session of Survivor — the big question is: whose den will be the most durable?
The children are in great spirits and are continuing to challenge themselves, work together and have lots of fun. We’ll keep you updated with more adventures from Dearne Valley later today!

What a fantastic first day we’ve had!
The children have all shown incredible bravery tackling the abseiling tower and had an amazing time battling it out in teams during archery tag.
Dinner was a huge success too, with fish fingers & chips, chicken, or chow mein on the menu — and the salad bar proved very popular!
We’re just about to begin our final activity of the day: ambush hide and seek. After that, we think everyone will be more than ready for a well-earned good night’s sleep!
So many smiles, laughs, and memories already made on day one!

Parents In Need – Support group @ St Joe’s
Over the last few months St Joseph’s has been part of a Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity pilot scheme. There have been meetings run by facilitators and it has bought parents and teachers together to understand what is required from the Parenting / Teaching partnership in relation to SEND within our school.
One thing we have found invaluable is having a relaxed open environment to talk freely amongst ourselves and with the attending teaching staff. We have found we are not alone in the parenting challenges and would really welcome anyone who wishes to come along.

Last week the children celebrated Earth Day. We spent the day painting the pallets outside of our classrooms and planting fresh plants to brighten our playground. We also created our own Eco garden and made sure to include lots of habitats for our wildlife 🌎
