Out of School Clubs
After School Club
The After School Club is open from 3.15pm to 6.00pm Monday to Friday exclusively for the use of St. Joseph’s school pupils. If the school is open we will be open.
The club is ran by a committee is made up of parents whose children attend the club or have attended the club in the past, the manager, both deputies and the school head.
The club manager is Jess Kelly, who has a level 4 status in Early Years Studies and is completing her Foundation Degree in Early Years Studies. The club deputies are Jane James who has many years of experience in working with Early Years and in Early Years leadership and management, and Alison Kolić, who is a qualified teaching assistant and has many years experience in working in schools. They are supported by a team of experienced staff, who work various sessions.
All staff employed by the club attend Paediatric First Aid courses every three years, together with Safe Guarding courses and all are DBS checked and vetted as are all club committee members. The After School Club’s Ofsted registration is EY440666. You are able to access details of our last inspection in which we received a grading of ‘good’ on the official Ofsted website.
Children can be booked in on a regular basis each week or can be booked for casual places, though casual places are subject to availability.
The club is open to all pupils in the school (subject to availability) and there are a wide range of activities the children can access. Pool, table and board games, art and craft activities, role play, small world play, dressing up, games on both the Playstation and Wii, DVDs and videos. We also carry a good range of books both fiction and non-fiction. We have a laptop which the children can use for home work or for improving their IT skills.
We have use of the school playground for more physical games and the jungle gym in the fenced off area. Our sessions are usually outside in the fine weather and are very popular with the children.
The club has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, but the usual standards of behaviour, consistent with school policy, are expected and are adhered to. It is an excellent environment in which the children have opportunities to build new friendships with other children of different age groups within the school.
Hot and cold snacks with drinks are provided for all the children attending, with picnics outside in the warmer months of the year.
