St Joseph's School was inspected by Ofsted in March 2016, when the school was judged to be a good school.

Findings from the report include:

  • The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection.
  • Pupils' attainment at the end of Key Stage 2, has improved in reading, writing and mathematics over the last three years.
  • The school is popular with parents and [has] ensured that the facilities have been improved to meet the growing demand for places.
  • School leaders and governors focus on providing the best possible education for pupils and are ambitious for the school's future.
  • Leaders and governors place a high priority on keeping children safe.
  • Pupils behave well around the school. They are polite, well mannered, taking great pride in their school and its uniform.
  • Pupils' attendance is well above the national average because pupils enjoy coming to the school.

Religious Inspection

Our last Religious (Diocesan Canonical) Inspection was in March 2016, when we were judged to be an outstanding Catholic school.

Some of the key findings of the report include:

  • The headteacher, assistant headteacher and subject leaders ensure that the Catholic Life of the school is given the highest priority and as a result this area is outstanding.
  • Prayer is central to the life of the school.
  • Engagement with the local parish of Our Lady of Victories is strong and visits between the church and school take place on a regular basis.
  • Pupils enjoy their learning in Religious Education. They are engaged in lessons and can talk enthusiastically about their work with spiritual and ethical understanding.
